About Cowgirl Spirit

Cowgirl Spirit is a federally approved 501(c)3 Charity

How we started:

Cowgirl Spirit began as a drill team, and with the encorporation of the first two horses purchased at the auction (by outbidding the "meatmen") onto the team, the idea for a group that would perform with rescue horses was born.

Our members excitedly began preparing for our first competition season, and were proud to perform with a team of 8, partially consisting of horses that had been rescued from situations in which they were at risk for slaughter. It was an exciting opportunity to prove what these throw-away horses were capable and footage and memories from this time still serve to show the equestrian community the potential so many horses-in-need hold.

Why we're different:

While we no longer participate in equestrian drill, the experience we gained from performing drill continues to remind us how important it is to show the community the amazing potential held by so many of its "throw-away" horses. As US slaughter laws change, increasing the number of abuse and neglect cases in Washington and across the country, we continue to seek ways we can make the biggest impact.

With the need to help our community's horses constantly increasing, we look forward to announcing new partnerships and exciting new ways we are making a difference one horse at a time.

How you can help:

Once we have a horse healthy and trained, we will try to find a good adoptive home for him or her to live out a happy, useful life. All of our time and effort is volunteer, but of course we need funds for expenses: feed, vet care, transport of horses, costumes, competition fees, and more. We gratefully accept donations of cash, hay, cash, tack. cash, trailers or almost anything you can think of. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
