Thoroughbred mare (19 year old)

Sophie was rescued from the Enumclaw Livestock Auction on August 7th. Actually, we missed seeing her be sold to the meat man. Once it was pointed out to us that she had gone for meat, we sought out the meat man and asked for permission to purchase her from him. With a slight markup on what he purchased her for, we bought her and took her home. Sophie was an older TB mare, approximately 16 years old. She had a lip tatoo, so we believed she was off the track. Unfortunately, in late August, she somehow injured herself on her left hind fetlock with a major puncture wound. It went all the way to the sesamoid bones. 2 months later, and lots of TLC, the vet has cleared her to start working again.
