Kahlua is a unique addition to Cowgirl Spirit for a number of reasons. A wonderful and vibrant 74 year old woman contacted us in December, explaining her need to find a home for this mare who was blind. Kahlua was deeply loved and nothing but the best was desired for her. Although Cowgirl Spirit normally saves horses from going to slaughter, it was decided that this was a unique case and a need that we could help with. A personal visit to meet Kahlua, proved her to be a wonderful candidate for the team. With the approval of her owner, a time was set to pick her up. Immediate challenges were faced, loading into the trailer, the boundaries of her new home, and buddying up with another horse - something new that she had been without for the last three years. Kahlua was put through a series of tests the next day by a member of the team, where she quickly proved her confidence under saddle. Cowgirl Spirit feels honored to have such a wonderful horse on our team, and look forward to finding just the right forever home for her in the future.
