Dandy

Quarterhorse mare (9 year old)

Dandy was saved from the Enumclaw Livestock Auction on August 7th, 2005. She was a 6 year old purebred QH mare with bloodlines that include Doc Bar, Three Bar and Poco Bueno. The day we saved her by outbidding the meat men, she had a 3 month old foal at her side that was ripped from her and sold to a new home (the foal didn't go to meat). She was also bred again and 150 lbs under weight. She had never had farrier care and hadn't been handled much, let alone ever been ridden. After a trip to the vet, Cowgirl Spirit was told that Dandy's health wasn't good enough to sustain her pregnancy and that it should be terminated as the embryo wasn't healthy. Since the termination, Dandy learned how to be a horse again. She has participated in 1 competition, including 2 events, one which required dressing up as Cheerleader Barbie's horse, wearing pom-poms.
