Cowboy

Quarterhorse gelding (9 year old)

Cowboy is a 7 year old registered Quarter Horse gelding that was saved from the feedlot in Eastern Washington. He arrived at the feedlot at the same time Cowgirl Spirit did to help transport some horses for another rescue organization. We were not intending to save another horse at this time, however, Cowboy's extreme fears caused us to think twice. He was completely unapproachable, scared out of his mind and was likely to be shipped on the truck that day. After spending some time with him in the weigh scale, he started to show a desire to trust and believe that he wouldn't be hurt. At that point, we couldn't leave him. Now that he's home, he is enjoying an easy going life. He has started his training, but it is obvious that either he's never been saddled, or has been severely, desperately beaten and abused. We are working with his fears but believe it will be a very long, slow road to recovery.
